Criteria

All the cars in this list are available now or will be available within two years in the UK. They all represent the "second wave" of battery and engine efficiency. A real-world range of 220 miles and a figure of 3.3 miles per kWh are the new averages (up from 177 miles and 3.0 respectively in the previous top 10).

When there are multiple battery pack options for a car, I choose the smallest one. The average battery size was 63 kWh in the previous list and has only slightly edged up to 67 kWh in this one.
